The Time Tunnel: Chapter 2 – “Where no Aliens Dare!” - Part 6

Back on Earth of the past, Captain Stillwell and his team make for the caves they saw far off.  The large beast is right on their heals at about 200 yards behind them and now shrieking more loudly with multiples of sounds.   “I think it’s hungry” one of the team members said.  Another team member said back “yeah, ya think?”  The team makes it to the cave entrance but the cave opening is too big…the beast will follow them in.   There is a foul odor in the cave with animal skeletons scattered everywhere.  Captain  Stillwell said, “This is a den.”  Deep in the cave the team hears a deep low growl and they see two large eyes.

It’s a saber tooth tiger moving low and slowly toward the team!  The fangs are the size of two large bananas and the animal is drooling.

At that moment in comes the beast that’s been chasing them…with no hesitation enters the cave entrance and slides to a stop.  The team is caught between both animals.  “Quickly, against the wall of the cave, quickly” captain Stillwell said.  The Tiger’s focus changes from the team to the beast and in an instant the tiger is on the back of the beast and a huge fight begins.  The team makes their way out of the cave and just below them they encounter another saber tooth tiger getting ready to pounce on them.

The Time Tunnel: Chapter 2 – “Where no Aliens Dare!” - Part 5

Whatever it was it didn’t touch the floor and it seemed like it was part of the craft in some way and parts of it were moving.   To describe it, it was short about 4 feet tall.  It had three main parts but it seemed only to have two dimensions.  The three parts were round like disks that were a foot or so across and the disks were aligned vertically one on top of the other.  Each disk would take a turn to spin 1 quarter turn then stop.  Then the disk above it would spin a quarter turn and stop.  And so on.  When the disks turn sideways the disk would fully disappear as it had no side dimensions.

Each disk looked like a window with something looking at us with multiple eyes in rows on each side of a body or head or something.  It was truly something out of this world.

“Plant the charges and set the timers….NOW!” shouted the Major.  One of the marines started to fire her pulse rifle at the disks.  The energy was reflected back into the mussel of the rifle and the gun blew up and injured the marine.  “No one take any action!” barked the Major.  “Let’s see if the thing can reflect this” one of the marines said.   The team brought two small tactical nukes with them.  All of a sudden the team at once all started feeling sick and they started to loose vision hearing or feeling a thought coming into their heads and minds.  “SA SA SA SA” It’s like they were paralyzed and in a trance.  Hearing in their minds “KLEE KLEE SA SA SA”  It was looking like the team was not going to prevail.  They were not going to destroy the alien craft and they all were going to die right there or be taken captive.   Everything turned into a dreamlike state for the marines.  The marines started to become part of the walls and floor of the alien ship and they could not stop it.

The Time Tunnel: Chapter 2 – “Where no Aliens Dare!” - Part 4

Meanwhile, the marines transfer onto the alien ship and arrive in complete chaos.   Of the team of 8, one missed the ship completely tumbling off into space.  Another marine tumbles for less than a second and materializes half in the wall of the space craft and dies instantly.  His helmet pops off as he stops within the wall and his face goes grey and his head shrinks to the size of a baseball all in about 2 skull crushing seconds with a green steam or green visible gas oozing out of his mouth, nose and ears.  It’s a hideous sight!  The interior of the spacecraft is like nothing ever seen on Earth.   The walls, floor and ceiling are like one large semitransparent convex silver mirror.  It’s like they are inside a silver glass sphere.  The team can slightly see through the wall of the craft.  They see their other fellow marine tumbling away in space.  Unfortunately, they have no way to help him.  The lighting inside the craft is dim and there is no breathable atmosphere, no instruments, no control panels, no chairs …nothing.  Just then a wobbling low sound is heard that vibrates the mirror walls making them shimmer like a speaker but slower more like a sheet hanging outside in the wind.

Nothing is familiar and all electronic communications don’t work.  The team have to look at each other through their visors and hand signal and lip read to communicate.   Major Pol pushes his team together where everyone’s helmet is touching.  “Can you hear me?” asks Pol.  He can be heard faintly like he has a tin can over his mouth.  “Here’s what we are going to do.  We are going to set the explosives and fix the timers for 10 minutes.  That should shut this sonofabitch down! “   The tunnel is set to retrieve the team in 5 minutes after transfer.

In front of them just then the wall started coming toward them like the point of a cone.   The team came apart and all of them looked at the mirror cone.  And from the wall, kind of out of the wall, appeared a thing.  The team didn’t know if it was alive or machine…it appeared to be both and neither.

The Time Tunnel: Chapter 2 – “Where no Aliens Dare!” - Part 3

The aliens, sensing the time transfer, began to set up a feedback loop by shooting a negative energy beam into the tunnel along it’s path around the Earth.  The insertion team traveling back to 1968 and Doug and Tony’s old standing wave probe from the 1968 attempted time transfer merge together causing the time displacement and positioning to shift from 1968 to 6.25 million years ago.  The insertion team tumbles into a snow bank during a blizzard in near white out conditions.  “It must be 40 blow….we have to find shelter,” Captain Stillwell says.

Meanwhile, the tunnel complex has detected the alien beam interfering with the time transfer.  “Can you get a lock on the craft?” General Brooks asks.  “I think we can” answers a scientist.   “Yes, we have a time lock.  “Team 2 prepare for departure!”

Team 2 prepares for a transfer not just in time but in space as well.  They plan on ‘landing’ on the alien ship before the beam started.  The Time Tunnel roars to life swelling as it did before with a countdown 14, 13, 12, 11, 10...  The marines enter the tunnel and a moment later in a flash they are also gone.

Meanwhile, Captain Stillwell and Team 1 are walking slowing bent over trying to keep the hard snow pellets from hitting their faces.  They head for the side of a mountain.   As they proceed to the mountain, Dr. Julia Swain falls through the snow and into a crevasse hitting a small ledge which breaks her fall.   Captain Stillwell struggles to reach her hand but he does and pulls her to safety.  The storm passes and the weather begins to clear.  They move on toward the mountain.

Far behind them at about a mile distance they hear a thumping sound.  It looks like a large rodent with large teeth and long hair.  It’s the size of a minivan.  “It looks prehistoric…a carnivore.” Julia says.  “Run!”

The team heads for a cliff face in what looks like a cave.  The beast begins to make a shrill like sound of excitement.

The Time Tunnel: Chapter 2 – “Where no Aliens Dare!” - Part 2

The standing spacetime wave in the tunnel seems to be the original 1968 transfer attempt by the tunnel to retrieve Doug and Tony and this wave has been bouncing back and forth within the tunnel for almost 50 years.

Now, there is no time to analyze the wave probe of 1968 as the opportunity is good for a full team transfer back to 1968 the night before the blast.  The lock is nearly at 100 percent and if they wait the lock could be lost or become unstable.  So the countdown continues.

A scientist sitting at a control station says, “This wave is only the remnant of the time transfer…a spacetime vortex closed on both ends if you will.  It should dissipate and disappear completely as energy levels build in the tunnel for the transfer.

As the countdown continues 29, 28, 27 a large swell sound and a crackling is heard deep within the tunnel.  Time tunnel staff is calling out systems that are a go.  “Guidance? …Go, Tracking?  …Go” etc…  The insertion team begins walking into the tunnel with Captain Stillwell taking point ... 10, 9, 8, 7 the sounds in the tunnel begin to swell even louder.   Then in a moment, the team vanishes.  They begin tumbling through time which sets up an opening or wormhole in local spacetime.   This event triggers the time dilation trap the aliens had put in place around the Earth after the 1943 USS Eldridge experiment which works as a kind of sensor that detects artificial changes in local spacetime.  This is the same trap that alerted the aliens in 1968.  The difference now is the aliens are ready and waiting nearby due to the ripples in time event that has occurred before the current time transfer which touched the time dilation sensor alerting the aliens to the impending travel in time by the Earthlings.  A small signal event before the transfer event!  Like a volcano produces earthquakes before it erupts time travel events are preceded by space time disturbances.

The Time Tunnel: The plan and the insertion - Chapter 2 – “Where no Aliens Dare!”

Team two meets with the time insertion team.  Both teams go over their plans.

Team 1, the insertion team will go back to 1968 and reprogram the time probe.  Team two, comprised of 8 heavily armed marines in pressure suits, will lock on to any extraterrestrials signal that is attempting to overload the new Time Tunnel transfer of Team 1 back in time.  Team 2 will track and follow any alien signal back to it’s source by signal lock and secondary time transfer to the signals place of origin.  It is a highly dangerous and risky plan.  The aliens are technologically much more advanced than us.  They have traveled across nearly a hundred light years in a very short time to reach Earth but the only time travel technology they have is tied in to their light speed propulsion engines.  Time travel is our only advantage.

As the countdown begins the teams ready themselves and equipment.

The Time Tunnel has not been fully tested as they have been working feverously to repair and shield the complex from outside intrusions.  Some parts of the complex, the space, are still affected by the ‘68’ blast and these spaces need to be worked around.

During the countdown and initializing of the tunnel for the time transfer instruments detect a standing space-time wave inside the tunnel.  Upon further investigation it seems the tunnel has locked on to Doug and Tony’s radiation probe giving the tunnel an exact fix in time and space (location) for both time travelers.  The lock coordinates verify the earlier ‘Looking Glass’ determinations.

The Time Tunnel: Lost in Time! - Part 9

A team is assembled to go back in time to stop the transfer of Doug and Tony by the Time Tunnel in 1968 so as to prevent the aliens from overloading the transfer causing the spacetime gravitational wave that will knock the asteroid out of it’s orbit where the aliens will then shoot an energy beam to disturb the asteroid’s orbit further causing it to crash into the Earth destroying all of humanity.

The assembled team will be lead by Captain Grant Stillwell from the United States Air and Space Force.  His handpicked team, Dr. Pete Russell Electro-Physicist, Army Specialist Simon Carver tactical expert in combat and weapons and Dr. Julia Swain, daughter of the late Dr. Raymond Swain that worked on the original Time Tunnel project back in 1968.  Ray or Dr. Ray as most called him was killed in the blast in 1968 when Julia was just a baby.  She doesn’t remember her father.

The insertion team will go back in time to the original Time Tunnel …the night before the 1968 transfer attempt that caused the overload and explosion.  The team will reprogram the radiation bath time probe which will make the time tracker loose it’s lock on both Doug and Tony.  There will then be nothing to lock onto and bring back.  Doug and Tony will both be forever lost in time but all of humanity will be saved.

NOTE:
There is a high expectation that the aliens will attempt to interfere or block the new Time Tunnel and prevent the transfer of the team back to 1968.  There has been an increase in UFO activity in the Western United States and the country's armed forces are on alert.  The air force is however helpless to stop the incursions into US air space by these unwelcome visitors.  All attempts to mediate a solution has been ignored.   So we have devised a three prong plan to stop both the asteroid and the aliens.

The Time Tunnel: Lost in Time! - Part 8

Tests of the newly rebuilt Time Tunnel reveal that the feedback explosion was due to an overload during the last ‘time transfer’ of both Doug and Tony.  For the last 47 years, after the tunnel explosion, Doug and Tony have been living in the later part of the Cenozoic Era in the Neogene period around 6.25 million years ago during a great ice age.  Life has been hard and harsh and they have grown old.

In 1982, Project Looking Glass, a viewer into ‘past’ time, determined that the source of the overload that caused the tunnel explosion that stranded Doug and Tony for the past 47 years was found be externally generated outside of the tunnel complex and on closer investigation it seems to have an extraterrestrial origin in deep space.  This new evidence that extraterrestrials caused the overload and facilitated the asteroid’s trajectory toward Earth complicates things but it is also suggested that if the spacetime blast event does not occur in 1968 then the extraterrestrials will not be provoked into destroying the Earth.
